Seth's Blog: Alarm clocks
In the past I have maintained that some product developers, especially developers of technology products, have a tendency to concentrate too much on a single aspect or set of features and not enough in other areas. In Seth's example, he basically says we'd have better alarm clocks if it weren't for people developing them concentrating too much on marketing.
That's not say that marketing is a bad thing. In the end, it illustrates product development is more about what people want out of their products and what they can do for them and less about how many can be sold. If you give people what they want, marketing will come much easier.
